Sunrise moves back north after solstice

Dear Angelique,

Remember the letter I wrote the other day about the sunrise making its journey south as we approached the Solstice in December?  Here is a link to that letter.  I missed the picture the day the Sun crossed the Key Biscayne lighthouse in early December, and calculated that the Sun would reach the lighthouse again around this time.

We were in Brazil until yesterday, January 5th, and based on my calculations, I was not certain what day the sunrise would touch the lighthouse as it heads back north toward the extreme it will reach on the summer solstice.

I had to leave the house promptly at 7:00 a.m. this morning, and sunrise was not until 7:08, so I set my camera up on my telescope and focused on the lighthouse, and then set it to take a time-lapse video, and when I got back a couple hours later, the time-lapse had this frame.

I had to take a screen shot to post it here.  I don’t know how to make a link for the video that others could see.  Maybe upload to youtube?  Anyway, that’s a question for a younger generation.

I had so much fun in Brazil and was so happy with the horses.  I can’t wait to hear from you soon.

Spencer
